Hiking Photo Captures the Trail Splitting Open under Our Feet!

The moment the trail split open under my feet

Hiking at the Marin Headlands, the trail shuddered and split open under our feet. Luckily we were able to catch the moment in our hiking photos.

"Could this be the San Adreas Fault cracking open right across the trail?" we thought.

All right... enough with the science fiction.

This closed portion of trail at the Marin Headlands (in Golden Gate National Recreation Area) was already cracked open like this when we came to it.

It would have made a great story though!

I can almost believe that it really happened.
